CES Field Report: GestureTek Mobile

I had a note yesterday from my friend Danny Briere. Danny’s making the rounds at CES. He told me that I had to check out GestureTek Mobile - said they had a lot of fun trying out the apps the company is demonstrating this week. As a Wii fan, if this video is any indication, I can certainly understand…

    Russ,

    Another interesting motion-sensing company at the show was Reactrix (www.reactrix.com) — they do optical sensing like GestureTek, with a focus on digital signage/advertising opportunities.

    There’s a mobility angle to what they do (or at least a mobile network angle), because EV-DO (as the basis of the Reactrix Media Network) is part of their overall package.

    So the funny thing about this particular video, Russ, is that the CTO was showing us bowling, and he scored a Strike! and was so surprised because he said that’s the first time he’s ever gotten a strike! So I guess it’s harder than it looks. You can apply ‘english’ to the ball as it goes down the lane by tilting the phone left to right too.
