Mobile Enterprise
Padmasree Warrior wrote a great, thought provoking piece this week on how Enterprise Mobility will create tremendous power but also danger. This is a topic that I’ve been working through quote a bit recently (more on that later), so I thought her comments were very well targeted.
I like her summary statement: “The mobile platform will change businesses, just the way PC and the internet did.”
But along the way, she also calls out the challenges: “This will open up a whole set of challenges around administration, management, compliance, authentication, ease of use and security.”
The way I like to characterize the magnitude of change is to ask an IT group - What will your “desktop support” group have to support in the mobility age? How much of it will be on the desk? What will your “network support” group have to support in the mobility age? How much of it will be in the well-managed confines of your own network?
Most IT groups aren’t yet up to these new challenges, but hopefully that won’t hold enterprises back from grabbing hold of the power of mobility. Of course, one option I’d recommend folks consider is Sprint’s Mobility Management.
Power up!
